Some of you might have noticed the slight nudge of the elevator buttons on our previous penciled page as compared to the final version. It was an editorial decision to make the flow more natural, rather than unnecessarily dynamic. On Page 4, I also requested a small correction from Trish in a single panel. Why? Well, I can tell you but where is the fun in that? Instead, for a no prize winner, you can try guessing which panel was later rendered differently. Leave your answers in the comment section. The reveal will come next week. And while we are exposing our secrets from behind the creative process of making the "Twisted Holiday Horror Tales", a shout-out goes to our fan and a Facebook follower, who wants to remain anonymous, and sent her question via messenger. No, we won't tell you who she is. (BTW, have you already Liked: Kiss Attila Writes? Every single Like is much appreciated. Please invite your friends to do the same as well. It's also the best way to be notified when we post new things). Back to our fan whose observing skills are uncanny, and for that, we salute you. Her question was: "Why is Aayushi walking in the winter without a jecket, while her Mother wears one? Is she a sadist?" I'm glad you asked. The short answer is, No! To elaborate, here is the deal. Before writing a new story, I flush out the characters thoroughly. The more comprehensive job I do before the work commence, easier it is later. If I do my job properly, the story will practically write itself. While for sure you saw few ballpoint descriptions of Aayushi on her character sheet, that information doesn't even scratch the surface of who she really is. Not by a long shot. There is much more to her, and unfortunately some aspects had to be left off. For example, she is preparing herself for an Ice-Swimming. I have a friend who did this for a while, so I know one way to train your body is to fill a bathtub with ice cubes and sit in it for a while. However, Rahmani's doesn't have the financial means to indulge this option. So, the next best thing is to walk, in cold weather home from the Mall, in a T-Shirt. There you have it. Aayushi's Ice-Swimming desire does not relate to the story, so it won't be further explained, and thus I'm sure many readers of the book will ponder upon her appearance but you, my loyal followers are in the know. Great news for the fans of TWISTED HOLIDAY HORROR TALES.
The files were submitted to both companies: ComiXology and Indyplanet. There is a bit of a wait period while they approve the content, but I'm hopeful it will be available for a digital download at both platforms and as print-on-demand at Indyplanet sometimes before Christmas. Fingers crossed maybe even November. I just received an email from Kablam Printing (Indyplanet) that a small batch of printed proof copies were sent out to me. Pending of how they turned out, I might make few copies available for purchase before it's official release date. Let me know if this is something you might be interested in? Probably the easiest way to get one of my books with an autograph too. Stay tuned for more info, as these proof prints are quite unique. The sample pages don't stop here. I will be releasing more previews, and more thoughts from behind the pages, so come back often. For now, here is the final version of the Cover: "Twisted Holiday Horror Tales" #1 (with a UPC code) Art / Colors by TRISH ISIDERIO Publisher: SCATTERED COMICS, Inc Raising money for charities and real estate have three things in common:
Location... Location, and Location. Yet one of the strangest things I ever saw was a Santa collecting in front of the homeless shelter. To his defense, he might have been a resident dressed in a fake Santa outfit, but regardless, from what I saw he wasn't doing very well. Did that in any way influenced this page? No, just a coincidence. Page No.3, from our upcoming: "Twisted Holiday Horror Tales" #1 Art / Colors by TRISH ISIDERIO Story / Letters by ATTILA KISS Publisher: SCATTERED COMICS, Inc Here we get our first glimpse of the Mother-Daughter relationship which ends with a strange, and cute little ritual. It was noticed by Ms. Mulligan who claims to practice the same ceremony with her own daughter. Although a world separates these two families on the social ladder, there seems to be similarities between the two.
Now, let me ask you this: "Do you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain?" Me? I'm more of a sober kind and I love walking in the moonlit winter night, while the falling snow gently adds a white layer to the environment, in a relatively warm weather, listening to Mozart's: "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" on repeat. If you never tried this, I strongly suggest you stop, and smell the roses, next time Mother nature goes out of her way to line up all these requisites for you. Until then, enjoy that remarkable last panel, courtesy of Trish. That one is for the postcards. Page No.2, from our upcoming: "Twisted Holiday Horror Tales" #1 Art / Colors by TRISH ISIDERIO Story / Letters by ATTILA KISS Publisher: SCATTERED COMICS, Inc As you can tell from the penciled art to the finished first page, we were off to a great start. Trish captured the story from the script exactly as I envisioned it. This was the first project we were working on as a team, so I wasn't sure what to expect from her skills. I was eagerly anticipating her initial rendering of Page No.1, and my excitement rose through the roof when I received her hard work. Trish even draw an extra panel, not required by the script and seen at the bottom of the Page. Thank you. Although the background was missing from her penciled composition, Trish assured me it is the process she does best while applying the colors. What she came up with is a very subtle surrounding, which further accentuates our main characters.
I love it! Also, I would like to complement the first brave soul who left us a comment. Thank you kindly and keep 'em coming. We love to hear from all of you and feel free to ask us anything you'd like to know about our books. Page No.1, from our upcoming: "Twisted Holiday Horror Tales" #1 Art / Colors by TRISH ISIDERIO Story / Letters by ATTILA KISS Publisher: SCATTERED COMICS, Inc I'm sure it comes at no surprise to those of you who follow my recounts from behind the pages, that SantA-iClause is indeed the host of our upcoming comic book series: "Twisted Holiday Horror Tales".
They all have it. I'm talking about the flagship characters of Horror properties such as: Creepy, Eerie, Tales from the Crypt and last but not least, the Movie Massacre. While the stories in these terrifying literature are painted with murky colors, the narrators always bring a palette of their own, separating themselves from the chronicles not merely as an observers, but often as comic reliefs with conclusive morals to wrap 'em up. I knew from the beginning, that THHT had to have a poster-child. There was no question about it. And once the Santa doppelganger with artificial intelligence won that audition, the choice of covering our first Holiday yarn came spontaneously. Hence the twisted Christmas tale. The characters from most of those Horror anthologies, I mentioned earlier, are destined to oblivion shortly after you put down the book. What I hope to achieve, is to create protagonists and villains equally interesting for you to stow them into your lasting memory. Now, as promised, here are few unknown facts from behind the pages. The page in front of you, was not meant to exist. At least, not on its own. Page 1/Panel One was suppose to combine the establishing shot, with SantA-iClause's introduction. However, the sheer amount of dialog balloons, made it impossible. The obvious solution was to let the account unfold on a separate sheet. Easier said than done. You see, the comics, with all their advantages, do have one major flaw. Especially, the printed material. Once you spread them open, your eyes are automatically exposed to two pages. Even if you can resist absorbing the "whole package", inevitably you might have spoiled some of the surprises earlier than they were intended. Therefore, my job as a writer is to keep the suspense high by dispensing the twists on the "verso" side (which is Latin for the left-hand page). And since TRISH already finished rendering the pages before I became aware of this predicament, all the "good stuff" appeared on the "recto" side (which is Latin for the right-hand page). Not good. So, here I was. Facing my first dilemma. Should I loose the host altogether, or go for the unprecedented: add Letters in issue #1, and at the beginning of the book, nonetheless? It was time to improvise. And improvise I did. Apropos, the man SAiC described in his opening statement... You know, the individual who harbored peculiar feelings toward his "action" doll... And conducted an uneducated experiment in hopes to push that same "non-action" figure, as far up as he could in the direction of a "non-stop action" environment... Is an honest to God, real story. Yep, I read it in a newspaper. And if you are expecting a moral too, let me warn you, I'm nobody's SantA-iClause, but I'll give it my best shot: Don't be cheap. Investing in a "real thing" is often better, than scouting Garage Sales for a suitable substitute. You never know where that "thing", might have been. There you have it. Stick around. Next: The Pencils and Complete Pages. Art / Color: TRISH ISIDERIO Story /Lettering: ATTILA KISS Publisher: SCATTERED COMICS Have you ever mailed your wishes to the big, old, jolly man in the red suit, with a bushy white beard? Because, if you haven't, then you aren't fully prepared for the real world. Yeah, yeah... I know. There is no Santa. (Oopsy Daisy. Kids, you didn't hear that from me). But, seriously... Whether there is Santa or not, it's beside the point. What matters is, for you to learn how to... Wait for it... SELL YOURSELF and LIE, WHILE DOING IT. That's right. It is the most important skill you'll ever acquire, and it doesn't hurt to start early.
Yes, you do! Rose by any other name... is still a LIE. Hey, don't feel bad about it. You are doing it for the most important person in your life. YOURSELF. Sure... To feel better you can promise something along the line of helping others too, but... Don't go overboard. Why lie to yourself? Draw the line somewhere. Therefore, start writing that letter to Santa now, and flood him with as many wishes as you can possibly think of, because: Practice makes perfect. Remember that. And down the line, when all those "innocent little lies" start to catch up with you, then you'll realize... ENOUGH is ENOUGH! At this point, all that's left is to write one last letter to Santa, but without the... You know... Phony tendencies. *Here is mine. Now, show me yours!!! (Comments bellow will do, thankyouverymuch). *The 'Letters' page from the upcoming "Twisted Holiday Horror Tales" #1.

Any comment will do. I don't even know if the damn thing is working. Huh? Maybe it's not working, which explains why am I not seeing any of your 1.000.000.000 comments left. Eh? Yeah, that must be it. Anyway, you being here means a lot to us. We would like to reward your patronage by telling you a bit about our new comic book series, and to offer you an exclusive look behind the pages, as they nicely come along, with thoughts and tidbits you won't find anywhere else. Sooo... "TWISTED HOLIDAY HORROR TALES" eh? Yep, the cat is out of the bag, so to speak. I know. Like Horror tales aren't scary enough, on their own. Do you really have to center them on, or around Holiday's too? Sheesh. What kind of monster are you?
Well, I'm glad you asked. Sick around... Err, I meant, stick around and I'll tell you all in great details. You see, as a kid, I was blessed with a very short attention span. Ongoing series, quite frankly, seemed way too long to read and remember. I was more drawn to old anthology type of horror comics, where you get the whole helping of Terror, in one sitting... Or in a single issue, as you wish. It was like, Uncle Creepy and Cousin Eerie teamed up to hit me with a hammer, from two different directions every time I read one of those stories and all I could do afterwards, was run to my Mommy, cryin'. It's what I would have done, if I wasn't reading "those funny books" against my Momma's mandates, to begin with. Instead, I would find comfort in crawling into our family heirloom, a hand decorated Hungarian crate widely known as: "Tulipános Láda" (recently popularized in a Chloë Grace Moretz horror-flick "Greata"), and pretend to play a game of hide and seek, whereas all I was doing is hiding from the exact same thing I sought. Yes, I would eat up every Horror comic book figuratively, in high hopes of one day, spectacularly sh*tting my pants. It never happened, mind you, but not because I wasn't trying hard enough. In fact, I was constantly captivated by yarns, that would push the limits beyond the norms. While my stomach would easily churn upside down upon hearing of a real life tragic event, I could clearly separate the fictional stories from reality and enjoy them at face value. Few soiled underpants later... Just kidding... Orrr am I?... I decided to spread the joy of this new kind of Horror born within the feverish mind of a boy, voluntarily locked in the darkest corner of the aforementioned "Crate" among y'all avid fans of the most terrifying genre known to mankind. Before you scroll further down... a *Trigger Warning* and a *Spoiler Alert* Only 155 days left till Christmas. (And a bit less, to read our completely finished book.) Bwahahahaha!!!
